Gustav Mahler
and Jihlava Home 

After November 1989, as a conclusion of the endeavour to promote the most significant citizen of Jihlava, there was opened a permanent exhibition "The Young Gustav Mahler and Jihlava" in a historic building in "Kosmakova" Street on June 10^th, 1994. The exposition has been updated and brought to the newly renovated rooms of Gustav Mahler House at Znojemska Street No. 4. The exhibition is operated by the City Library of Jihlava.

Other event, the celebration "Gustav Mahler 2000 and Jihlava", organized by the association "Dum Gustava Mahlera", was held from the October 13^th to 15^th, 2000, at the 130^th anniversary of the first Mahler's public performance in the Town Theatre.

There is held a musical festival "Mahler Jihlava" annually since 2002, organized by the association "Mahler 2000 - the Gustav Mahler Society".

The association "Spolecenstvi za zrizeni pomniku Gustava Mahlera v Jihlave" (Association for installation of Gustav Mahler´s monument in Jihlava) has been established on April 19^th, 2004. The aim of this association is to build a Gustav Mahler's monument in Benesova Street on the recent market place, the place of the former synagogue burnt by Nazis of Jihlava. The author of the monument shall be Jan Koblasa, a significant Czech sculptor.
